• Move with purpose - Sudden direction changes can help you avoid ghosts, but avoid "panic zig-zagging" that traps you.
• Use power moments - When power-ups are available, take advantage to reset your position, then return to your dot-clearing route before they wear off.

A bit of history

Games like Arcade Maze are strongly connected to Pac-Man, one of the most iconic arcade titles ever made. Pac-Man was released in 1980 by Namco and quickly became famous for the "eat pellets, avoid ghosts, and chase back during power moments" loop that defined a whole genre of maze-chase games.
